THE Premier League the title race took a huge turn on Sunday after Manchester United surprised Arsenal in the Emirates.
That blew up the race for the crown, but it wasn’t the only drama of the weekend.
There were matches in Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, with some huge results.
You can catch the best of the action below.
Juventus 3-0 Napoli
Juventus closed out a convincing 3-0 win over Napoli at the Allianz Stadium, a result which moves them from sixth to fourth in the table and one point behind third-placed Napoli.
The hosts were organized and clinical when opportunities presented themselves, outperforming their expected goals tally of 1.09 with three well-taken finishes.
The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute after a period of sustained pressure. Manuel Locatelli, marking his 300th Serie A appearance, produced an inventive flick from the edge of the box to release Jonathan David, who ignored Leonardo Spinazzola before finishing low past Alex Meret.
Juventus continued to look the more consistent team, with Thuram hitting the post and Conceicao denying on the line before the break.
Juventus remained compact and patient, and the match was effectively settled in the 77th minute when substitute Fabio Miretti took advantage of a defensive error to serve Kenan Yıldız, who finished serenely for his eighth league goal of the season.
Another substitute, Filip Kostic, added a third late in the match, striking low from distance after a loose ball in the final third.
Rome 1-1 AC Milan
Roma and AC Milan shared the points in a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico, a result which did not help both teams continue their quest for the Serie A title.
Roma were the more consistent attacking force throughout the competition and finished with a significant advantage in expected goals, but their early dominance was not rewarded. The hosts created several openings in the first half, with Malen squandering the clearest chance when he fired from close range, while Mike Maignan was repeatedly called upon to keep Milan level at the break.
Against the run of play, Milan took the lead just after the hour mark. Luka Modric delivered a precise cross from a short corner, which was met by Koni De Winter, whose downward header gave Mile Svilar no chance. Roma responded with renewed pressure and earned a return to the match when Bartesaghi was penalized for handball. Substitute Lorenzo Pellegrini kept his cool from the spot to level the score.
Roma pushed for a winner late on, but Milan held on. The draw leaves Milan five points behind leaders Inter, while Roma move into third, four points behind the Rossoneri.
Atlético Madrid 3-0 Mallorca
Atletico Madrid recorded a comfortable 3-0 home win over Mallorca, continuing their strong form at the Metropolitano with a largely one-sided performance.
The hosts took the lead in the 22nd minute through Alexander Sorloth, who finished from close range after sustained pressure in the Mallorca box.
Atletico dominated territory for much of the first half, forcing a succession of corners and testing Leo Roman on several occasions, while Mallorca struggled to progress the ball beyond midfield.
Any lingering doubts were removed midway through the second half when David Lopez inadvertently headed into his own net under pressure from an Atletico free-kick, doubling the advantage.
Mallorca briefly threatened through Vedat Muriqi, but Jan Oblak was rarely called into meaningful action.
The final word came late, as substitute Thiago Almada reacted quickest to a corner to shoot from the center of the area and complete the score.
Metz 2-5 Lyon
Lyon produced a ruthless attacking display to beat Metz 5-2 away, breaking away early and never relinquishing control despite some brief Metz responses.
The visitors scored inside 11 minutes as Endrick finished from close range after sustained pressure, before doubling the lead five minutes later through Ruben Kluivert, who converted from a corner.
Lyon continued to overwhelm the Metz backline, and Tyler Morton’s low strike from distance made it 3-0 just after the half-hour mark. Metz pulled one back through Koffi Kouao, but Endrick restored Lyon’s three-goal lead just before halftime after a quick transition.
The second half was more balanced, with Metz enjoying spells of possession and narrowing the gap again when Habib Diallo finished from close range. However, any hopes of a comeback ended late on, as Endrick completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot before Lyon comfortably finished the closing stages.
