President Donald Trump said on Monday that any country doing business with Iran will face a 25% reduction price “on all business done with the United States of America.”
This new tariff on imports from Iran’s trading partners takes effect “immediately,” Trump said in a statement. Truth on social media.
“This Order is final and conclusive. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” he wrote.
Further details about the pricing announcement were not immediately clear. A White House official declined to answer CNBC’s questions about the president’s social media post.
Trump’s apparent effort to economically isolate Iran comes as the oil-rich Middle Eastern country struggles to quell a continuing wave of massive economic pressures. anti-government protests.
Dozens of protesters have reportedly been killed in recent weeks; Trump has threatened to take military action against Iran if the killings continue.

The announcement of new tariffs on Iran’s trading partners also comes ahead of a highly anticipated Supreme Court ruling on the legality of many of Trump’s highest tariffs.
These tariffs – including its controversial “reciprocal” tariffs from early April and others related to alleged fentanyl trafficking – were invoked under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, or IEEPA.
It was unclear whether Trump’s recently unveiled tariffs on Iran were also based on this law.
