Inter win big to stay top of Serie A

Inter Milan recovered from a shaky opening to secure a 6-2 victory Pisa at San Siro, a result which gives Cristian Chivu’s men six points ahead top of the table.

Despite controlling possession throughout the match, Inter fell behind after 11 minutes when Yann Sommer misplaced a pass from the back, allowing Stefano Moreo to curl a long-range shot into an unguarded net.

Pisa doubled their lead soon after, with Moreo rising unmarked to head home from a corner, punishing a defensive organization error.

Inter’s response began from the penalty spot. Federico Dimarco’s shot ended with a handball and Piotr Zielinski converted to reduce the deficit.

The hosts equalized soon after when Lautaro Martinez headed in a Dimarco cross, before Francesco Pio Esposito completed the comeback just before half-time with another header, this time from Alessandro Bastoni’s shot.

The second half followed a familiar pattern, with Inter camping in Pisa’s half and creating chances at regular intervals.

However, it wasn’t until the 82nd minute that the fourth goal arrived, when Dimarco volleyed home a cross from Marcus Thuram.

Dimarco then provided the assist to Ange-Yoan Bonny, who finished well to make it five, before Henrikh Mkhitaryan added a sixth in stoppage time.
